The educational institution was established in 1923 under the leadership of Etege Menen, providing education for female students funded by their own resources. During the Derg regime, it was converted into a regular school. In 2012, with the permission of the Addis Ababa administration, it returned to its previous status as a dedicated educational institution.
Currently, in Addis Ababa, government-run schools report that students in the 8th grade achieve high results in both the registration and entrance exams administered by the institution. This school also teaches students from 9th to 12th grades.The services provided by the school include education, accommodation, healthcare, and meals.
